As we approach the half way mark of the Premier Cricket season Redlands Cricket has experienced many highs and lows since the season commenced in September.
Whilst sitting in sixth place on the Queensland Cricket Club Championship ladder our players have been putting in some great performances. Unfortunately some games have not gone the way we would have liked plus the weather has not been kind to us either.
Our best performing teams thus far are 5th Grade who currently sits in third place and 6th Grade no 1 who are in 4th place. Fifteen players have scored centuries so far with Sohi Shojaei top scoring with 174 not out. Thirteen players have taken five wickets in a match with Luke Haegel taking five wickets in a match on three occasions.
Congratulations to Liam Smith who was selected to represent Queensland in the National U/19 championships played in Adelaide.
The big news of the season has been the performance thus far of our Women’s 2nd Grade team. They have started well and we look forward to following their progress in the second half of the season. They are currently in seventh position on the one day ladder and in 2nd spot on the T20 ladder. Congratulations to Kate McDonald, Sarah Grove, Rory Jones, Sumer-Rose Briskey and Clodagh Ryall who have been selected to represent Queensland in various National championships.
As the T20 Big Bash League is in full swing we wish the three Redlands players Jimmy Peirson, Sam Heazlett and Marnus Labuschagne all the best as they represent the Brisbane Heat.
The BEARS and RCI Junior pre Christmas competitions have been very successful and it was pleasing to see so many young boys and girls enjoying the various formats of the game.
The players and committee of Redlands Cricket would like to take this opportunity to wish all associated with the Redlands Sporting Cub a very peaceful and enjoyable Christmas and a Happy New Year.
