With the arrival of “Spring” and the warmer weather our members are once again enjoying their social bocce games on Wednesday mornings (9am-12 noon) as well as on Saturday and Sunday afternoons (1pm-5pm). This is the perfect time for new comers to come along and try a game of bocce.
Sponsored competitions are also held throughout the year and are usually held on a Sunday and normally start at 9 am and finish around 3.30 pm.
Morning tea is supplied free and lunch for a small fee. So far this year we have held the Carlo Bonato Cup and the Fred De Campo Cup – many thanks to Carlo Bonato and Fred De Campo – our generous Sponsors.
Interclub competition is another avenue of enjoying the sport of bocce. We compete at Newmarket Club bocce courts and they then in turn also come and compete at our bocce courts.
Recently our members competed at Newmarket Club and although the bocce courts there can be difficult to read – we enjoyed a great lunch that was prepared by their ladies.
On the 8th September 2018, we organised a bus trip for our members to Moffatdale Ridge Winery to attend the Italian Wine & Food Festival. We had a good turnout with 35 of our members travelling to Moffatdale to enjoy some fine wine and Italian food.
At present we have a group of young people who play bocce on a Wednesday night at 6 pm.
For more information about bocce please contact Neil Parlato on 07 3207 1340 or Barbara Jones on 07 3134 0037.
