The 2016 Ladies and Men’s Club Championships are well underway. The Ladies Triples Champions for 2016 are Jo Mahony, Lesley Norris & Janelle Jones. The Men’s Triples Champions for 2016 are Gary Bishop, Mike Hartley & Dave Tomlins. Men’s Novice Singles Champion Mark Parry. Our senior’s Singles Champion for 2016 is Warren Chambers.
In District Champion of Champions our Ladies 4’s team of Jo Mahony, Janelle Jones, Lesley Norris & Sue Teitzel were beaten in the final as was our Single’s Champion of Champions player Rayna Ellis.
In other District news, Wellington Point’s Dave Tomlins, Mike Hartley & Doug Reynolds along with Bob Sinnamon of Wynnum won the District over 60’s 4’s.

The Ladies and Men’s Pennants for 2016 have finished with the Men’s Division 7 playing for the flag, but coming up just short and losing to Capalaba. Our Ladies had Division 2 & Division 5 playing for a flag. Division 2 lost to Belmont in the final but Division 5 won their match against Manly and took out the Pennant flag. Well done to all.
The 25th Anniversary of the opening of the Bowling greens which occurred on 14 September 1991 was celebrated with Foundation members being honoured and a lunch held to celebrate the occasion. 100 people enjoyed the day reminiscing about the beginnings of our Club.

In 2017 Wellington Point Bowls Club will have teams in the Super Challenge which will be held January to March. The men will be competing in the Men’s Gold competition and the Ladies will have a team in Ladies Silver and Bronze.
