Moreton Bay Game Fish Club would like to take this opportunity to wish all of out members and friends a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe 2018.
The fishing activity recently has slowed down and the Committee has been busy undertaking maintenance at the club’s facilities at Tangalooma. They are also now starting to organising our annual tournament “Back 2 Tanga 10” which is to be held on 2-4 March 2018.
It was great to see a large turnout of members, families and friends at the annual presentation of awards and Christmas party in December. The ladies put on a fantastic spread of tasty finger food and it was an opportunity for new members to meet some of the old hands.
Congratulations to all of the trophy winners for the 2017 fishing year. It was good to see some of the new members doing well and taking out some of the awards and we have listed some of the winners below.
- Club Champion Greg Caporn
- Champion Female Michele Hicks
- Champion Junior Robbie Flynn
- Most Billfish Tagged Ryan McKinnon
- Champion Boat Over 8m Kaizen
- Champion Boat Under8m Reel Affair
- Top point scoring angler Greg Caporn
- First Marlin of season Clinton Hicks
- Junior encourage award Joe Anning
It was a sad loss on 3 September with the passing of Life Member Brian (Spike) Kirkby after a long battle with cancer. Spike was well known by many within the fishing frat and will be sorely missed.
Once again thanks to all our valued members for your support of Moreton Bay Game Fish Club. We look forward to seeing you in 2018.
