Another year of social golf has drawn to a close with our final game of the year being a 4 Man Ambrose played at “Royal Birkdale” (Howeston) on 11 December. This was followed up in the afternoon with our annual Presentation of Trophies and Christmas Dinner at the Sporting Club.
As is the norm for this time of year the preceding months are a busy time for the club with the Club Championships being played as well as our normal fixtures. The results of our Club Championships in each grade were: – A Grade: Richard Burke, B Grade: Frank Chambers, C Grade: Kevan Lucas. The Club Champion, being the player with the best gross score over two rounds was Billy McDermott. Our last Trophy event of the year was the Patron’s Trophy, a Single Stableford played at Redland Bay, with the winner being Tony McKinless on 38 points in a very close result with 10 players being within 2 points of the winner. Our thanks to Don Seccombe and Barry Cullen from the Sporting Club committee for giving up their time and joining us for a game.
We will now head in to a short break before starting the 2018 season at Wynnum Golf Club on 15 January. If you are considering having a game of golf with our social club you are quite welcome to come along and have a game before making a commitment to join. We play every second Sunday at various golf club in the metropolitan area.
