Match Play Trophy – Frank Chambers & Ricky McKinless
The past few months have seen a very busy schedule for the Social Golf Club with three of our trophy events being completed, a bus trip to Murwillumbah and the start of the Club Championships.
The first of those was the 2 Man Ambrose Trophy which was played at Gailes on 4th June and was won by Peter Edwards and Frank Chambers with a net score of 67.5. This was followed by our Winter Cup, a 4BBB Stroke event played at Palm Meadows on 16th July, and was won by Adrian Plath and Phil Rogerson with a net score of 62.
The final of the Match Play Trophy was agreed to be transferred from Mt Warren Park to Windaroo due to the condition of the course caused by the recent flooding. This trophy was successfully defended by Ricky McKinless who defeated Frank Chambers 3 & 2.
In between these event we had a very successful bus trip to Murwillumbah in August which was followed up by our annual Father’s Day 4 Man Ambrose game at Howeston. Both of these games were very well attended and gave the members a chance to play some “fun” golf games within their groups.
The club is always seeking to attract new members to come along and have a game on a Sunday morning to see if this attractive enough for them to join up.
