Sensei Jess and Shihan Rene
What a jam packed couple of months – June Black belt grading saw plenty of young trainers reach their next belt level but also Sensei Aiden Quinn achieved his 2nd Dan Black Belt Nidan and Jessica Craddock achieved her Black Belt Shodan Ho. Well done all students for such a dedicated effort to their training. We also saw the awarding of 5th Dan to Shihan Ian Jeffs. A well-deserved grading after leading the club so expertly whilst Shihan Rene was recovering from surgery. Leading the way for the next Black Belt grading in December at the Noosa camp is James Wrigley and Ben Craddock with confirmations in line for Guy Sheen and Paris Botella. Good luck to everyone. Our September grading held in the Palms Auditorium at the Redlands Sporting Club saw a healthy number of junior and senior trainers achieve their next level. I hope you all enjoy your school holiday break.
Our dedicated Elite Team who trained weekly with the Queensland team and at least four days a week together at the Dojo travelled south to compete in the Australian Karate Federation National Titles held at the Liverpool Stadium in Sydney in August. The hard work definitely showed through with these athletes performing to a very high standard on this National stage. Huge thanks go to Sensei Clinton for supporting these athletes in their training.

  • Guy Sheen – Junior Male Kumite – Bronze Medal – Team Kumite
  • Leni Salazar – Junior Male Kumite
  • Ewan Sheen – Cadet Male Kumite

These SKA members continue to inspire our younger members through their performance and coaching during classes. Next year we hope to take a much larger group through as Queensland will host the 2018 National Competition.
During August we also held yet another successful Gladiator and beginner’s Tournament for all our upcoming competitors. A fun day was had by all. This is a great platform to introduce our kids to the competition format, a chance for our Elite squad to show off their talents and for our junior black and brown belt students to organise the games.
With classes running seven days a week throughout the Redlands and Bayside, catering to all ages and fitness levels, there has never been a better time to inquire about joining. Call 3396 0980, check out our Facebook page or go to www.sportskarateaustralia.com.au
