The netball season has only just begun and Allstars Netball have seen success both on and off the court. Our club has grown from 147 players (2016) to 171 players in 2017. This year we were able to enter 19 teams into the RNA Junior winter competition. Our volunteer Coaches, Managers, Committee members and everyday helpers have generously contributed many hours to develop our players and provide a fun and encouraging environment to all .

2016 season proved to be a busy and progressive one for Allstars Netball Club Inc, with 147 players ranging from under 8’s to Cadets with a total of 17 teams to represent our fabulous club. Competing in the Redlands Netball Association league every Saturday at Pinklands Courts, Thornlands from March to September. The 2016 netball season ended with Allstars taking home the RNA Club of the Year Trophy for 2016.

It goes without saying that all 147 players did an amazing job in the 2016 season, the sense of camaraderie evident from sidelines of cheering supporters to the players on the courts. Out of our 10 teams registered, four outstanding teams made the Redlands Netball Association Grand Finals, putting up an awesome fight until the very end.  Sadly three out of our four were defeated, with our Intermediate Division 3 Team bringing it home and winning victoriously. We also had several Redlands Netball Representatives chosen from our players to compete for our Association at various carnivals and State events, with a few of our players selected for other State and National tournaments throughout the year.

At the end of last season Allstars were very grateful recipients of funding from the Department of National Parks, Racing, Sport and Recreation to facilitate building works of a new Club House.  This much needed and crucial building comprised of a meeting room, toilets and storage facility. Allstars has now become self-sufficient and this enables us to host functions and provide quality facilities to our members.  Funding was gained early 2017 for strategic planning through Redland City Council and for the installation of two grass courts and fencing through the Gambling Community Benefit grant. This will enable more games to be played at the one time and increase the participation of young women in sport.

Fostering a love for netball starts at an early age, Allstars hit the ground running this season by implementing the NetSetGo program within our Club and offered it for the third year at our very own Wellington Point courts. This was a huge success and saw twenty-six 5 to 7 year olds participating. Weekly sessions focused on skills and drills to establish the fundamentals required to eventually take to the courts and pursue their love of netball. Thank you to all of our volunteer coaches who contributed to help make this program a success for our club.

Thank you to the Redlands Sporting Club for your financial donations and community support. It is through the support of our Team and Major Sponsors that we are able to provide netball to our girls in a fun, positive and supportive environment.
