Pipe Band Report June 2018

Posted on Tuesday, 3 July 2018

The Pipe band has been busy in the community over the past few months. We performed at the Grand View Hotel in Cleveland on 17 April for St Patrick’s Day and as usual a Paddies day performance is full of a lively audience in good spirits.
On 25 April we participated in the Anzac day commemorations with a presence at the dawn service by a solo piper and also marching in the main parade through Cleveland. In addition we played at the Cleveland RSL and also in the Redlands Sporting Club. It was a long day of playing with tired musicians by the end of it.
We also had our annual pipe band competition on 28 April at the Redlands Tigers Cricket Club. There was a great turnout and support from the local community. A special thanks to the Redlands Cricket Club for hosting us, they helped put on a great event.
On 12 May we opened the Ormiston College fete with a performance. It was nice to be invited back to play once again for the college.
We also performed at the Bocce National Championships on 8 June. It was nice to support our friends at the Redlands Sporting Club Bocce as they have kindly let us share their facility for many years. The same night we also performed inside the Redland Sporting Club in the main lounge.
If anyone would like the band to perform at an event in the local area please don’t hesitate to contact us. As usual, we provide free lessons for bagpiping and drumming, if anyone is interested please contact me.
