REDLANDS SWIM CLUB
January to March is always an extremely busy yet exciting part of the season for Redlands Swim Club and its members. Our club nights continued every fortnight allowing many of our young up and coming swimmers to practice their racing skills in a fun social environment.
In addition to several qualifying meets held around Brisbane many of our swimmers competed in seven Championship events held during this time.
In January three of our swimmers who are continuing in the sport post-school travelled interstate to the NSW Open Championships in Sydney to obtain valuable experience. Jody-Joy Davie also qualified and competed at the recent Commonwealth Games Trials which was quite an achievement.
We had 45 swimmers compete at the Brisbane Sprint Championships with 13 placing in the top 10 in Brisbane. One of our youngest members, Zoard Farkas, placed 2nd in the Freestyle, Butterfly and Breaststroke and 3rd in the Backstroke. This was followed by the Qld Sprint Championships where 18 of our swimmers competed. Jackson Murphy, Thomas Pattison and Bailey Somerville all placed in the top 10 in Qld in multiple events.
